Philly Cheesesteak Pizza
Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at 11:45AM Good Morning Foodies! It’s another Tuesday. I feel like I say the same thing each week and I have no idea how to transition away from that. I guess I could screw with you all and say Happy Thursday when it’s Tuesday and so on, but that is not exactly a classy thing to do. I guess it is a good thing that I do not tell you all that I am a high class girl. I’m just normal. Other than messing with your days, I have no idea what to do to change life up a bit.
Maybe I could have Pippy type up a post? Nah. Let’s be real, he would talk all about how he does not get enough food or the kinds of food he wants. Then, I am sure he would put a picture up with an ‘Adopt Me’ sign. He is a loose cannon.
For the last couple of weeks I have been eating pizza. Sadly, I have not had any in about a week. I wish I could make a couple of pizza pies today, but I don’t have any of the ingredients that I will need to make one. Even though I don’t have any great ideas for a pizza today, I still have a couple to share with you from my previous rendezvous with pizzas. Today I have a Philly Cheese-steak Pizza.
It is a little piece of pizza heaven that you all will fall absolutely in love with. If you don’t, I’ll eat your slice!

Here is what you will need:
- 1 homemade pizza dough
- 5 ounces of steak, sliced thin
- 3 ounces blue cheese, crumbled
- ½ can tomato sauce
- ½ jar pizza sauce
- 2 to 3 cups cheese, shredded
- 1 red bell pepper, sliced thin
- 2 garlic cloves, pressed
- ¼ onion, sliced thin
- ½ tablespoon Cajun seasoning
- ½ tablespoon pepper
- ½ tablespoon garlic powder
- ½ tablespoon Italian seasoning
- ½ tablespoon basil leaves
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 450 degrees F
- Combine pizza sauce, tomato sauce, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, basil leaves, Italian seasoning in a medium saucepan over medium heat just until the sauce is full incorporated and hot
- In a medium skillet, add a tablespoon of olive oil and heat over medium heat
- Add onion, peppers and garlic and sauté. Season to your taste {I used the same spices that I used for the sauce - cayenne, pepper, cajun, garlic}. Sauté until vegetables and garlic are completely soft, remove from heat
- {At this point, cook and slice your steak if you have not already done so. Our steak was pre-prepared so I just added it to the pizza}
- Roll out the pizza dough into a circle or whatever shape that works for you
- Lightly grease a pizza wheel & then sprinkle with corn meal
- Put the formed pizza dough on the pizza wheel
- Using a ladle swirl the pizza sauce on the dough so that it covers the base completely
- Add the sautéed peppers, garlic and onion on top of the pizza sauce
- {Add a little hot sauce, if you like}
- Add the steak slices
- Crumbled the blue cheese on top
- Top with the shredded cheese
- Bake for about 30 minutes {or more} until the pizza is nicely browned & cooked all the way through
I was slightly skeptical about this pizza only because we were adding the peppers and onions; I was not sure I was going to enjoy those ingredients on my beloved pizza. However, I was pleasantly surprised. The red bell pepper added a touch of sweetness that I never knew my pizza needed, but will never forget to use in the future! And the onions were a perfect match, too. I think the fact that the onions were completely cooked and not crunchy really helped the cheesesteak cause!
I would recommend this rendition of pizza any day of the week!
I hope you all give this a try & enjoy!
Until Next Time,
